Bird Creek is located 2 miles south of Port Austin on Van Dyke Road surrounded by farmland.

The golf course is a parkland design meandering along tree lined fairways and several water hazards including Bird Creek which traverses the layout affecting playing on eight holes. There's generally a constant breeze off nearby Lake Huron which adds to the challenge in addition to the sand traps defending the landing zones and the green complexes. There's five sets of tees from 4,812 yards to 6,508 yards, the middle tees play to 5,666 yards, 67.0/118, course/slope ratings, designed by Bruce Matthews in the early 1990s.
