Black Desert is on the north side of St. George, just north of Estrada on Snow Canyon Parkway in Greater Zion.

The golf course is carved through black lava rock fields along broad, undulating fairways. It has a generous amount of conventional and waste area sand bunkers and numerous risk/reward options with three water hazards. It's a scenic setting with Snow Canyon State Park in the background and a horizon punctuated by the distinctive Kayenta sandstone native to the area. Tom Weiskoph designed the course with five tees from 4,955 yards to 7,417 yards from the tips, 75.4/139, course/slope.
