Black Sands is located on the south side of the Knife River in Beulah 15 miles south of Lake Sakakawea.

The golf course is a parkland layout winding along fairways defined by trees over hilly terrain with a stream traversing the middle and small, oval greens defended by black coal slag bunkers. It's a nine hole layout with three sets of tees, the tips play to 3,113 yards, 35.0/124, course/slope ratings.
