Coldwater Golf Links is on the south side of Ames off US 30 at exit 148 on the east side of Iowa State's campus.

The golf course is a links-style layout with wide open fairways bordered by tall fescue. Numerous sand traps guard the fairways and greens, along with water hazards on over half the holes, are in play. It was designed by Tripp Davis. From the back tees, it is 6,787 yards, 72.4/130, course/slope ratings, with three shorter tees.
