Veenker is named for George F. Veenker the head football coach at Iowa State from 1931 to 1936 and located on the north side of the campus on 13th at Stang.
It's a traditional layout over hilly, tree lined fairways along doglegs and sand bunkers with Squaw Creek bisecting the course and coming into play frequently. The course was designed by Perry Maxwell in the 1930s and from the back tees plays to 6,640 yards, 71.5/131, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees.
