Deer Brook is on the north side of Shelby, about 45 minutes west of Charlotte.

The course is part of a residential real estate development, with a few homes scattered along the fairways but through mostly natural borders with unique and isolated holes. The layout is a parkland-style design with trees lining the fairways, multiple water features, and a liberal use of sand traps throughout. It was designed by Rick Robbins and Brian Lussier and, from tips, is 6,950 yards, 74.1/139, course/slope ratings, with three shorter tees.
