The Delaware Golf Club is between Worthington and Delaware on US 23, about 30 minutes from downtown Columbus. It was originally a 9-hole private club designed by Donald Ross in the 1920s, but it opened to public play once Dr Michael Hurdzan designed a new 9 around a residential community.
It's easy to see the difference between the Ross nine and the Hurdzan 9s. The original holes are along heavy, tree-lined fairways over rolling contours encircling the Perkins Observatory with modest, well-defended greens. The new nine features broad, contoured fairways with numerous water hazards and a generous amount of sand bunkers scattered along the fairways and defending the generous greens. The Blue tees are 6,378 yards, 70.8/128, course/slope ratings, and a par of 71 with one longer and two shorter tees.
