Downing is a municipal golf course opertated by the City of Erie and located on the east side of downtown near Lake Erie off Buffalo Road.

The layout is relatively flat and walkable along broad, fairways defined by trees with several water hazards, a moderate use of sand bunkers, and ample greens with slight undulation. It plays to 7,092 yards from the back tees, 73.0/119, course/slope ratings with two shorter tee boxes.
