The Esquire Golf Course is 20 minutes southeast of downtown Huntington in Barboursville, in a residential development surrounded by the Guyandotte River.

The golf course is a straightforward and playable parkland layout with the fairways defined by trees over generally level terrain. There are several water hazards in play but no sand bunkers, with the primary challenge being the small, contoured greens. Designed by Xenophon Hassenplug in the mid-1970s, it plays to 6,905 yards from the tips, has 72.2/116 course/slope ratings, and has three shorter sets of tee boxes.
