The Farmington Hills Golf Club is northwest of Detroit at the northeast corner of I-696 and I-275.
The layout features a mix of open, links-style and tree lined fairways with a variety of fingered sand bunkers strategically positioned at the landing zones and guarding the greens. It ambles over a roomy tract of land with homes lining a few of the holes, but otherwise along natural corridors with multiple water hazards. The tips play to 6,413 yards and a par of 71, 70.8/136, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees. The layout is the former San Marino Golf Course, a nine hole course designed by Jerry Matthews in 1963. In 1978 the City of Farmington Hills purchased San Marino, and in 2002 Don Childs was retained to renovate and expand the course to 18 holes.
