Fincastle is located on the south side of Bluefield off US 460 to the south lumbering through the forest with homes only along a few of the exterior holes.

The golf course is a challenging, parkland layout along narrow fairways framed by old growth, hardwood trees. There's numerous slight doglegs, sand bunkers both along the landing zones and greenside, and only a few holes with water hazards in play. The layout, at 2,600 feet in elevation, is a 1963 Dick Wilson design of 6,609 yards from the tips, 70.8/134, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
