Fort Sam Houston is located on the northeast side of San Antonio on Harry Wurzbach with two 18 hole layouts.

The La Loma course is the more forgiving of the two courses with open fairways, numerous doglegs, several water hazards, a moderate amount of sand traps, and ample greens. Salado Del Rio is a target layout along narrow, tree lined and dogleg fairways over a modest change in elevation with multiple ponds, sand traps, and blind shots leading to small, elevated greens. Both courses are original A. W.Tillinghast designs from the 1930s that have been updated by Kevin Tucker, and were a venue for the Texas Open-the first PGA event held on a military installation in 1956 and 1960. Both have four sets of tees with La Loma at 6,270 yards from the White tees, 70.2/119 course/slope ratings, Salado, 6,248 yards, 71.2/123.
