In a residential development, Gator Trace is located south of Fort Pierce, east of Federal Highway at Weatherbee.

The golf course is a stereotypical Florida layout with pine and palm trees scattering and lining the fairways, homes, or condos bordering the exterior holes. Water and wetlands are on either side of the fairways and/or around the greens on most holes, and a generous number of sand traps are positioned along the landing zones and greens. The layout is an Arthur Hills design of 6,092 yards from the tips, 68.9/123 course/slope ratings, and a par of 70, with two shorter tees.
