The General Burnside Island State Park golf course is located west of London and Corbin within the park. The Park was named for the Civil War General Ambrose Burnside who apparently led patrols along the Cumberland River area.
The golf course is located on an island surrounded by Lake Cumberland but water only comes into play on several holes including the 18th. The routing is over hilly terrain with numerous blind shots and sand bunkers strategically positioned along the occasional fairway landing zone and every green. The course has four sets of tees ranging from 5,036 to 6,394 yards, 70.1/126, course/slope ratings at the championship tees, a redesign of the original layout by Brian Ault.
