Gordon Trent is 10 minutes west of Martinsville on the Jeb Stuart Highway surrounded by forests and fields.

The golf course is a short and hilly, target layout where course management is more useful than distance. Overall, it's most entertaining while providing numerous scoring opportunities with drivable par 4s, short par 3s, and par 5s reachable in two. It ambles through a scenic setting with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains throughout and nothing but natural corridors lining the holes. It's a par 70 layout that plays to 5,541 yards from the back tees, 66.3/120, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Frank and Floyd Trent.
