Great Oaks CC is on the north side of Floyd on US 221 just off the Blue Ridge Parkway about an hour south of Roanoke.

The layout is a parkland style design over rolling hills and along tree lined fairways throughout. There's a few ponds and streams in play, sand bunkers primarily greenside, and the greens of all sorts of shapes and sizes, quick and undulating. A pleasant and playable layout which plays to 6,437 yards from the tips 70.8/124, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Gene Hamm in the late 1960s.
