Griffith Park is at the southwest corner of the Golden State and Ventura Freeways between Glendale and Burbank. There are two 18-hole layouts, one nine-hole executive course, a 9-hole par 3, four putting greens, two pitching and chipping greens, a practice bunker, and a 50-tee, double-deck, lighted driving range, all in all a municipal golf factory.
The Harding course is the most playable of the two 18-hole layouts winding along tree-lined fairways over level terrain leading to modest greens. It will play to 6,679 yards, 71.3/121 course/slope ratings from the back tees with three shorter tees, designed by George Thomas and redesigned by William P. Bell & William Johnson. The Wilson course is longer as it ambles along sloping, tree-lined corridors with numerous slight doglegs. It will play to 6,967 yards, 73.0/125, course/slope ratings off the tips with design work by George C. Thomas, William P. Bell & William Johnson, and Tom Bendelow. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Course is a par 33, 9 hole walking only layout with an interesting collection of holes located across the street from the Greek Theater providing views out over the LA Basin. There's also the par 3 Los Feliz Golf Course, the only one not named after a President!
