Heron Ridge is within a residential community off Princess Anne Road in the South Virginia Beach area.

The golf course is along broad, mounded fairways lined with oak, beech, and elm trees. Water is in play on 14 holes at the landing zones or wrapped around the greens, and sand bunkers are a constant companion. It was designed by Fred Couples and Gene Bates and plays to 7,017 yards from the tips, 73.5/131 course/slope ratings with four shorter tee boxes.
