Highfields is within a residential community in the Blackstone Valley in Grafton off Magill Road about 45 minutes from downtown.

The course is a sterotypical, New England layout along fairways bordered by old growth, hardwood trees over hilly topography. There's water on six holes but no forced carries along the broad fairways leading to generous, accommodating but well defended greens. It was designed by Cornish, Silva & Mungeam with five sets of tees allowing the course to be played from 5,266 yards to 7,021 with the white tees at 6,024 yards, 69.7/127, course/slope ratings.
