Hiland is located in the Southern Adirondack Mountain Region near Lake George, on the north side of Glens Falls, partially bordering a residential development.

The golf course is a challenging parkland layout with a surprising amount of elevation change as it traverses rolling, tree-lined fairways. There are numerous water hazards, including a semi-island green, multiple slight doglegs, and sand traps defend the fairways and modest greens. It was designed by Stephen Kay in 1989 and plays to 6,797 yards, 72.8/130 course/slope ratings from the tips, with three shorter tees.
