Hillcrest is midway between Bangor and Houlton off I-95, a few miles in Millinocket, in a setting providing views of Mount Katahdin throughout the round.

The golf course is a 9-hole, executive layout along tree-lined and rolling fairways with sand bunkering only bordering the small, oval greens. There are three par 3s and six 4s, and an overall par of 33 at 2,477 yards, designed by Larry Striley.
