The Links were built on the grounds of the old Sierra Blanca airport on the north side of Ruidoso at 7,500 feet above sea level.

The golf course's layout is mostly open, links-style on the front over mounded fairways while the backside is predominately through the pine trees. There's a stream traversing the eastern border of the course and a pond in play on several holes and sand bunkers positioned along the fairways and securing the greens. It plays to 6,757 yards, 71.1/120, course/slope ratings from the back tees with three shorter tees, designed by Jim Colbert and Jeff Bauer.
