Mattaponi Springs is east of I-95 in Ruther Glen in a secluded setting surrounded by fields and forests.

The course traverses a large, 330 acre tract of land with unique and isolated fairways along creeks, ponds, and wetlands. It features numerous elevated tees dropping down to the landing areas along sloping and rolling beech, oak, holly, and pine tree lined fairways. The course was designed by Bob Lohmann and is 6,937 yards from the back tees, 73.9/141, course/slope ratings with four shorter sets of tees.
