Mountain Aire is 30 minutes northeast of Boone in West Jefferson.

The golf course is a mountain style layout climbing through a residential development albeit in a most scenic setting. It's challenging along the sloping, tree lined fairways which rarely provide a level lie with a moderate amount of sand bunkers and water hazards in play on eight holes. The course has been around since the early 1950s and designed by Dennis Lehman with four sets of tees from 4,140 yards to 6,415 yards at the tips with the white tees at 5,858 yards, 67.4/112, course/slope ratings.
