Painted Desert is within an established, residential community northwest of the Strip off US 95 at Ann Road to the west.

The fairways are bordered by desert terrain waste areas, there's a generous amount of sand bunkers in the fairways and guarding the greens, and water hazards are in play on six holes. The course measures 6,781 yards, par 72, 73.7/136, course/slope ratings from the tips with three shorter tees, designed by Jay Morrish in 1972.
