Pelham Bay/Split Rock

Pelham/Split Rock is a 36-hole municipal golf course in the Bronx at the intersection of I-95 and Hutchinson River Parkway.

Pelham Bay Golf Course is the more playable layout with broad fairways defined by old growth, hardwood trees, and sand bunkers defending the fairways and greens. From the back tees, it's 6,480 yards, par 71, 70.3/117, course/slope ratings par of 71 with two shorter tees. It was originally a 9-hole layout by Lawrence Von Etten in 1901, with a redesign and addition by John Van Kleek in 1936.

Split Rock is a narrow parkland layout carved through the deep woods over rolling terrain adjoining the Pell Wildlife Sanctuary to the north. It's a shot maker's layout navigating narrow fairways and several water hazards with minuscule greens tucked into coves well-defended by sand bunkers. It features its own "Amen Corner" 15-17, and plays to 6,682 yards, from the tips, 72.7/129, course/slope ratings par of 70 with two shorter tees. The course was built with WPA funds by the New York City Department of Parks in 1936 and designed by John Van Kleek with redesign work by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
