The Portland Golf Course is 20 minutes south of Hartford on the east side of the Connecticut River in Portland in a natural setting.

The layout has slight elevation change as it moves through tree lined corridors with numerous doglegs, water hazards in play on six holes, and sand traps defending the greens and the occasional fairway. It was designed by Geoffrey Cornish in the early 1970s and plays to 6,213 yards from the tips, 70.5/127, course/slope rating with two shorter tees.
