The Preston CC is just east of Kingwood on Cheat River bottom land once owned by George Washington.

The layout flows along fairways defined by rows or stands of maple and evergreens over undulating terrain. In terms of hazards, sand traps defend the modest green complexes and the occasional fairway with the vexatious, Buffalo Run traversing and intersecting multiple holes along with a large pond. It can play to 7,001 yards, 73.8/133, course/slope ratings off the back tees with three shorter tees, designed by Ed Ault.
