The Reading CC with its castle-like clubhouse is located on the east side of Reading on Perkiomen Avenue about 40 minutes from the King of Prussia area.
The course is short and wonderfully quirky, but a shotmaker's delight with tree lined, hilly fairways, doglegs, sand bunkers, blind shots, and hazards to contend with in addition to the approaches to the small, pitched, and well protected greens. It's a classic designed by Alex Findlay in 1923 playing to 6,162 yards from the back tees, par 71, 71.2/131, course/slope ratings with three shorter sets of tees. The golf course had been a private country club for most of its existence and the venue to numerous PGA Tour events, and Byron Nelson was once the head pro here. Exeter Township purchased the course in 2006 and it's now open to the public.
