The Sapona Golf Club is on the southwest side of Lexington off I-285 at Old Salisbury Road to the west.

The golf course is carved through the trees in a residential development over slightly hilly terrain. Course management strategy pays off here with multiple streams and ponds and 50 +/—sand bunkers along the fairways guarding the fast, undulating greens. There are multiple tees from 4,765 to 6,620 yards, and the White tees are 5,750 yards, 68.1/123, course/slope ratings, designed by Ellis Maples.
