Shanty Creek Resorts

Shanty Creek Resort is 35 miles northeast of Traverse City and 30 miles west of Gaylord on the southeast side of Bellaire, with five 18-hole championship layouts.

Cedar River is a hilly parkland-style layout carved through the forests over rolling terrain along unique and isolated, broad and narrow fairway corridors. Three holes feature water hazards, and an abundance and variety of sand bunkers are positioned at the landing zones and defend the greens. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, it plays to 6,980 yards from the tips, has 73.6/144 course/slope ratings, and has three shorter tees.

The Legend course tumbles over several ridges and down valleys winding through the dense, northern forest along numerous doglegs. There are water hazards in play on six holes, including Shanty Creek, but the primary challenge comes from the wooded, hilly terrain. The generous green complexes are contoured with moderate undulation and well-defended by sand bunkers. The Legend plays to 6,764 yards from the tips, 73.2/137, course/slope ratings with 4 shorter tees, designed by Arnold Palmer.

Schuss Mountain sweeps through grass covered sandy dunes and a pine forest with three water hazards in play but numerous doglegs which test course management skills. It is a collaboration of Warner Bowen and William Newcomb and plays to a par of 72 at 7,013 yards, 73.5/130, course/slope ratings from the tips with three alternate sets of tees.

The Summit course is a mix of open and narrow, tree-lined fairways over rolling topography with a moderate amount of sand bunkers and two water hazards in play. It plays to a par of 71 at 6,276 yards, 70.4/131, course/slope ratings off the tips with 4 alternate tees, designed by William Diddel.

Hawk's Eye saunters over an expansive tract of land with varying degrees of elevation changes along tree-lined corridors. Water hazards are in play on half the holes, and 78 sand traps are positioned along the fairways and defend the greens. Designed by John Robinson in 2004, it can play to 7,011 yards, 75.4/148 course/slope ratings from the tips, with three other options.
