Sewanee is the University of the South's golf course in Sewanee off I-24 at exit 124 at Monteagle on the Cumberland Plateau.
The 9 hole golf course is a classic, parkland layout infused with Scottish design elements in a scenic, natural setting carved through the forest with stunning vistas on the Plateau. The fairways are lined by trees with one pond situated between two holes, and a variety of pot, conventional, and waste bunkers strategically placed through the fairways and guarding the interesting green complexes. The course plays to 3,279 yards off the tips, 36.0/129, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees and an alternate set for the second nine. It was originally designed by Bishop Albion Knight and Mr. Eaton, part of the university staff in the early 1900s with later re-designs by Scottish golf professional Jack Cowan, and most recently by Gil Hanse.
