The Fortress is on the south side of the Cass River off I-75 to the east in Frankenmuth.

The layout is over a large, natural tract of forested land with broad, fescue lined fairways with massive sand bunker complexes at the fairways' landing areas and guarding the greens and numerous ponds in play. From the tips the course plays to 6,813 yards, 73.8/140, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Dick Nugent.
