The Jewel is located 1 1/2 hours southeast of the Twin Cities on bluffs of the Mississippi River in Lake City.

The layout has both links and parkland elements. It has a mix of tree-lined fairways and those that are wide open off the tee, bordered by tall fescue grasses. There are a variety of hazards, with numerous water features and sand bunkers strategically placed along the fairways and guarding the greens. The layout was designed by Hale Irwin and can play to 7,050 yards from the championship tees, 74.0/135 course/slope ratings, and six shorter tee boxes.
