The Legends is on the tip of the USMC Parris Island Training Base on the Harbor River just east of Beaufort.

The course has an interesting and challenging layout that winds through the trees and marsh areas of the surrounding tidal land. It is generally rated as one of the world's top ten military golf courses. Each hole has designated notable Marines who have served the country with honor and achievement. There are five sets of tees overall, with the middle tees playing to 6,203 yards, 70.1/121, and course/slope ratings. It was originally designed by Fred Findlay in the 1940s with redesign work by George W. Cobb, and a renovation by Clyde Johnston in 2000.
