The Rail is on the north side of Springfield off Peoria Road partially within a residential community.

The golf course has been a LPGA Tour stop and is a quality, parkland layout along broad, tree lined fairways with numerous water hazards and sand traps defending the fairways and the massive, green complexes. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. at 6,630 yards, 71.7/127, course/slope ratings from the tips with three shorter tee boxes.
