Shawnee Inn is 15 minutes off I-80 at the Delaware Water Gap Exit.
The golf course is a classic from 1911 with three nines, Red, White, and Blue, originally designed by A.W. Tillinghast and Bill Diddle, and the venue for the 1938 PGA Championship won by Paul Runyan. It mostly flows over a private island in the Delaware River just east of Stroudsburg and features narrow tree lined fairways, sand bunkers along the fairways and greens, numerous ponds and streams, and rewards tedious management. The greens are typical of the era and are modest in size and crowned with quick and undulating surfaces. There's four sets of tees overall, and from the tips the Blue is 3,438 yards, Red-3,362 yards, White-3,227, course/slope ratings for the various rotations from the tips: Blue/Red-72.0/126, course/slope ratings; Red/White-71.5/123; White/Blue-71.5/128.
There's also the 6-hole, par 3 "Tillinghast" course, designed by Tom Doak and modeled after after the greens and sand bunker designs of other famous Tillinghast courses including the San Francisco Golf Club, Winged Foot and Baltusrol.
