Whitetail is 30 minutes northwest of Hagerstown in the Central Pennsylvania mountains.

The layout is mostly open with scattered trees along the broad fairways borders while five holes are carved through the deep woods. There's a modest change in elevation with numerous ponds and streams in play and sand bunkers distributed along the fairways and guarding the greens. Some greens are set on plateaus while others were built into the existing contours of the land in an overall scenic setting with views out to the mountains and the valleys of the area. It plays to 6,950 yards, 74.3/137, course/slope ratings from the back tees with four shorter tee boxes, designed by Rick Robbins.
