Wild Horse is two hundred miles west of Lincoln and 290 miles east of Denver, and if for some reason you're passing through on I-80, this is a required detour. Dubbed the "Carnoustie of the Corn Belt" and "Poor Man's Sand Hills", it was designed by Dave Proctor and Dave Axland who assisted Core and Crenshaw in building Sand Hills.
The course is an unusual experience as it's a links-like landscape over sweeping treeless dunes and along cavernous bunkers to undulating, massive greens framed by tall native heather-like grasses. It plays to 6,955 yards, 73.6/134, course/slope ratings from the tips with three shorter tee boxes.
