Windswept Dunes is one of the more fitting names for this golf course, as it's located on sweeping and rolling dunes in the western panhandle of Florida, about 15 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico near Freeport.

The routing is through a residential development along mounded sand hills with natural vegetation bordering the wide fairways featuring loads of sand traps and generous greens. It plays to 7,752 yards from the back tees, 76.8/143, course/slope ratings with five shorter tee boxes. Doug O'Rourke, a former Robert Trent Jones, Jr golf course shaper, was the architect in 2004.
