Beechwood is on the south side of La Porte off Indiana Ave marching over a natural tract of land with homes along the course's northern borders.

The layout moves along generally level terrain with fairways defined by old growth, hardwood trees. It's challenging due to the somewhat narrow corridors, numerous doglegs, multiple water hazards, and small, raised greens well protected by sand bunkers. It was designed by William Diddle in the 1930s and is 6.657 yards from the tips, 72.7/131, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees.
