Big Oak is on the north side of Geneva off Lyons Road at Packwood, surrounded by farmland and forest.

The course is a scenic layout along narrow, tree-lined fairways with multiple water hazards but little in the way of sand traps and modest, raised greens as targets. It's only 6,125 yards from the blue tees, 69.0/117, course/slope ratings, par of 70, and two shorter tees, designed by Jim Logue and Lloyd Aiken.
