Blue Heron Hills is 25 minutes east of downtown Rochester in Macedon on Canandaigua Road.

The layout is partially within a residential community along isolated corridors with most of the homes blocked by the trees lining the fairways. It's generally a tight layout lined by foliage and deep brush with doglegs, Black Creek traversing the layout and numerous ponds, a moderate amount of sand bunkers, and mid-sized, quick and undulating greens. The course was designed by Pete Craig and Richard Bator with four sets of tees, and is 6,739 yards from the tips with a par of 71, 72.9/127, course/slope ratings.
