Boulder Creek is on the northeast side of Grand Rapids in Belmont at the River Road exit off US 131 with the northern third of the course bordered by a residential community.

The golf course is a parkland layout wandering along broad fairways generally with scattered trees at the borders although there's several narrow corridors. There's numerous water hazards, a modest amount of sand bunkers, and ample greens with moderate undulation. It was designed by Mark DeVries in the late 1990s and plays to 6,949 yards, 73.5/131, course/slope from the tips with three shorter tees.
