Boundary Oak is east of Walnut Creek off I-680 at Ygnacio Road adjoining the Lime Ridge Preserve without homes or development in the foothills of Mount Diablo.

The course is challenging with tree-lined fairways throughout, water hazards on 1/3 of the holes, sand bunkers positioned alongside the fairway landing areas and greens, and varying degrees of elevation change. It's fairly long from the tips at 7,100 yards, 74.2/133, course/slope ratings with four shorter tee boxes, originally designed by Robert Muir Graves in 1969 but redesigned by Bob Boldt.
