Caledonia is on Pawleys Island just east of the Wacammaw River.

The course wanders through low lying natural areas without homes or development along the holes. The narrow fairways are lined with huge mature oak trees along numerous water hazards with each hole isolated and unique. The 18th borders the Plantation's old rice field and is an appropriate finish with a forced carry to the green at the clubhouse usually lined with players having a post round beer and is frequently rowdy. The course plays to 6,526 yards, 72.1/140, course/slope ratings from the back tees with three shorter tees. It was designed by the late Mike Strantz who was also responsible for True Blue the more challenging track across the street.
