Capital Hills is just off the NY Thruway on the west side of downtown Albany.

The layout is a scenic, parkland design trekking over hilly terrain with mature, hardwood trees defining the fairways. There's a mix of broad and constricted, fairways off the tee and on approach to the greens with sand bunkers defending the landing zones and greens, yet only a few water hazards in play. It's entertaining with potentially drivable par 4s, a couple of reachable par 5s in two, and an interesting set of mid-length, one-shotters. It plays to 6,332 yards from the tips, 70.2/126, course/slope ratings, and 5,784 yards from the white tees, 67.5/120, an original design by Devereux Emmet in the 1920s with a redesign and renovation by Rick Jacobson.
