The Muni is southwest of Charleston, located off Maybank Highway on James Island beside the savannas of the Stono River.

It's a relatively modest layout in length and over level terrain, but the fairways are lined with trees and brush. The layout reflects the design elements of Seth Raynor and C.B. Macdonald with template holes featuring Double Plateau (1), Eden (4), Punchbowl (6), Biarritz (8), Redan (11), Cape (12), Road (13), Short (14) and Maiden (15). The sand bunkers are strategically placed, and the greens undulating and quick with water/marshlands in play on four holes, providing a decThere'sLow Country feel. There's six sets of tees from 2,735 yards to 6,565 yards off the back tees, the white tees are 6,090 yards, 70.2/131, course/slope ratings, initially designed by Johnny Adems with a redesign by Troy Miller.
