Craig Wood is located south of Lake Placid in a clearing in the deep forest off NY 73 to the north.
The course is in a beautiful setting in the Adirondack Mountains with most fairways out in an open valley while several wind through the deep woods with some change in elevation overall. The course was named for favorite son Craig Wood, a touring professional in the 30s and 40s, who was a wire to wire winner of The Masters in 1941. There's four tee boxes, from the men's back tees it's 6,853 yards, 71.8/128, course/slope ratings, designed by Scottish pro and architect Seymour Dunn in 1925.
