Dunes West is located northeast of Charleston in Mt Pleasant within a residential development off US 17 to the northwest over the lowland along the Wando River.

The golf course is a scenic and challenging layout through the trees and marshland over slightly rolling fairways as it moves along the coastal tidelands between Wagner and Toomer Creeks with well bunkered fairways and greens. It plays to 6,859 yards from the back tees, 73.7/139, course/slope ratings with three shorter tee boxes, designed by Arthur Hills.
