Dunes West is located northeast of Charleston in Mt Pleasant within a residential development off US 17 to the northwest over the lowland along the Wando River.

The golf course is a scenic and challenging layout through the trees and marshland over slightly rolling fairways as it moves along the coastal tidelands between Wagner and Toomer Creeks with well-bunkered fairways and greens. It plays to 6,859 yards from the back tees, 73.7/139, course/slope ratings with three shorter tee boxes, designed by Arthur Hills.
